History

The first station was built parallel to the county road in 1887 and later used as a goods station, it is on the site of the former railway depot. 1902, the water tower was replaced by a new building. In the years 1905/1906, the new engine shed was built with eleven stalls. During the development of the station, a district of the railroad was built.

From 1913, the railways were laid with then 14 tracks on a higher level. From the old railway facilities (old train station and the beginning only two standing roundhouse in the depot ) in 1916 a pure depot.

The station still in use today was put into operation until 1920.

At times, the depot was expanded to include a workshop at the station in Osberghausen, who served the Dieringhausener station as Zugbildungsbahnhof for Wiehltalbahn.

The depot was disbanded in 1982 by the Federal Railways and houses since 1985, the Railway Museum Dieringhausen.

Railway junction

The station was not only the terminus of many railway lines, but also maintenance of express trains, such as the express trains from Cologne to Olpe or Hagen, from Wuppertal to Waldbroel or sometimes even from Cologne via Olpe up to Paderborn.

The following railway lines led together here:

  • The railway line Siegburg - Olpe, 1979, the passenger Olpe was decommissioned, in 1997 the total traffic. The switches of the old circuit branch is expanded since 2003. For this line Dieringhausen was in the passenger no real location advantage, since the connections from Olpe ended in Dieringhausen and one often had to change trains here cumbersome for connections such as between mountain Neustadt and Gummersbach. In addition, trains direct connections would need to contact the station.
  • The Volmetal path direction Hagen, on the only operation to Gummersbach took place from the mid-1980s, since 2003 but also again to Marie Heath. The reactivation to Meinerzhagen and beyond is planned from 2013.
  • The Wiehltalbahn on which took place up to 1965 passengers. Although it began in Osberghausen track technically, but ended most trains in Dieringhausen or went even further. Since 1999 the support group leads to the rescue of Wiehltalbahn by V. tourism traffic on the Wiehltalbahn. The trains start in Dieringhausen Railway Museum, the train station is another entry point. Since 2005, freight traffic is also carried out again in the form of timber transport trains.

Further, these routes branched around in Gummersbacher Kleinbahnen that Leppetalbahn, the guy Switchback and Switchback Wipper by Marie Heide Wipperfuerth to Lennep.

Today's state

At the reception building and the still existing very extensive trackage the former importance of this regional station can be seen today.

The ticket office in the station building and the kiosk will be closed for several years, today the building houses a bank and a Chinese restaurant.

Previously, there were two platforms, while but no main platform, as the tracks are at roof height of the reception building. The numbering of the platforms was (contrary to the norm) opposite to the numbering of the tracks, for the most northerly track was the track 1, but the northern platform was No. 2 The existing staircase to the still -used platform 1 is expanded not accessible to today been. The further access to the rear, now quite dilapidated and trackless platform 2 is bricked. The roof of the former building of the platform top view of platform 2 has collapsed also. The baggage elevators have long been decommissioned.

Today only go on Dieringhausen station, which belongs to the Cologne Diesel Network Regional train RB 25 railcars of the type Bombardier Talent on the remaining two platform tracks and the trains of the Museum Wiehltalbahn (track 2 ). The Train meeting the RB et al 25 found place in Dieringhausen. The other track systems are only partially as stabling for Talent railcars ( in the eastern area of the station, including station) and vehicles to the railway museum ( in the western area ), the other tracks are no longer used, are overgrown and partially dismantled.

The former freight handling at the first station on the railway museum is no longer used since 1997, but the loading tracks are still available. Before clearance of goods once parked the truck, now there exists a parking lot for cars.

Future

For the reception building there are several plans for a use for cultural purposes such as in Overath. In addition, is being considered for a long time, accessible to rebuild the access to the platforms to allow people with the previously almost impossible access via steep stairs. For this purpose, also expressed the local policy, the responsibility for the conversion is but so far back and forth.

Railway lines

Since December 2013, reversed the RB 25 back to Meinerzhagen, due to track work January 2014, however, performed a rail replacement bus service with buses between Dieringhausen and Meinerzhagen to end. The rail replacement bus service will now be even for one month, ie until the end of February, extended.

Others

The traffic in the Dieringhausen station, on the eastern part of the Agger car and the subsequent routes Bigge Valley Railway and Asdorftalbahn is simulated in an extension for Microsoft Train Simulator, which maps the state to the 1960er-/1970er-Jahren.
