Dieter Baumann

Dieter Baumann ( born February 9, 1965 in Blaustein ) is a former German track and field athlete and Olympic champion. He is one of the most successful long-distance runner of the German sports history. Alone on a national level he won 40 league titles at distances of 1500 meters to 10,000 meters and cross-country running. His best performance over 5000 meters on August 13, 1997 Zurich (then European record ) is still the fastest time a runner not of African descent on this route.

Career

Dieter Baumann, the Bundeswehr sports promotion group Böblingen belonged between 1985 and 1989, started first for the sports club LG Alb Donau (1982-1986), later for VfL Waiblingen ( 1987-1990) and the TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen ( 1990-2000). Since 2001 he start for the LAV Stadtwerke Tübingen, he was its first chairman from March 2004 to 2007. At a size of 1.77 m, it had a competition weight of 62 kg.

Doping affair

Baumann also takes part after his departure from the high-performance sports at running events.
