Dieter Fensel

Dieter Fensel A. ( born October 10, 1960 in Nuremberg, Germany) is a computer scientist who works in the field of formal languages ​​and the semantic web.

Fensel studied mathematics, social science and computer science in Berlin and received his doctorate in 1993 at Rudi Studer of economics at the University of Karlsruhe ( topic: knowledge acquisition and representation language KARL ). In 1998 he qualified as a professor and worked at the Institute for Applied computer science and Formal Description Methods (AIFB ), which deals inter alia with knowledge management and formal languages ​​.

Further stations took him as an assistant professor in Amsterdam, and as a professor to Galway ( Ireland) and Innsbruck, where he co-founded the Digital Enterprise Research Institute ( DERI ), an institute that works on technologies of the Semantic Web. Since 2003 he has been director of DERI Innsbruck. In 2007 he founded STI International, the end of 2007 DERI Innsbruck was renamed STI Innsbruck.

On his way, he has published numerous articles in professional journals and on (often co-organized by him) conferences. He was and is involved in several national and international research projects.
