Dieter Kosslick

Dieter Kosslick (* May 30, 1948 in Pforzheim ) is since May 1, 2001 Director of the International Film Festival Berlin.

Life

Born in Pforzheim and raised in Ispringen, Kosslick studied at the Ludwig- Maximilians- University of Munich communications, politics and education. After the Master's examination, he remained, first as a research assistant at the University, before moving in 1979 to Hamburg, to work there as Personal Secretary, speech writer and office manager of the First Mayor Hans -Ulrich Klose and later as a spokesman for the center for the " equality for women " to working.

From there moved Kosslick 1982 as a cultural journalist for the magazine "concrete". In 1983 he began working in film production, first as managing director of cultural film funding Hamburg ( Hamburg Film Office ). In 1986 he founded the European Low Budget Forum with the " cinema on the Alster ". In 1988 he became managing director of economic Filmförderung the Hanseatic city ( Hamburg Film Fund ). In the same year he was a co-founder of EFDO ( European Film Distribution Office ) President of this first European rental organization of the future MEDIA Programme of the European Union - an office which he held in addition to his managerial work until the dissolution of EFDO 1996.

1992 brought the state of North Rhine -Westphalia and the WDR Dieter Kosslick on the Rhine as managing director of just one year old Film Foundation NRW in Dusseldorf. In the nine years of his work in the Rhine and Ruhr North Rhine- Westphalia was leading German film locations and has established itself internationally as an important Filmland. In 2000, Dieter Kosslick, the State of Berlin and the German government called the auspices of the International Film Festival ( " Berlinale" ) to take over. On 1 May 2001, he assumed this position as director of the Berlinale.

Kosslick 2000 published the book The book Bagel: a pastry rolls around the world.

He was Vice- President of the European Film Academy EFA, which annually awards the European Film Award, member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Film Board in Berlin and board member of the European Film College in Ebeltoft, a member of the ZDF Television Council and founding CEO and current Chairman of the Board of the international film school cologne.

Kosslick involved as City inspiration for Pforzheimer help Africa in the context of the aid project We love Africa for the Football World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
