Dieter Kottysch

Dieter Kottysch (* June 30, 1943 in Gliwice, Gliwice Polish: ) is a former German amateur boxer.

In the years 1964-1968 Kottysch was five times in a row, German welterweight champion ( - 67kg ). Then he moved to the light middleweight ( 71kg - ), where he was able to win the title in 1972.

1964 Kottysch missed the part in the Olympics, as he lost the decisive elimination tournament for the joint team of the two German states against Bruno Guse. At the European Championships in 1967 Kottysch difference in the first fight against the eventual gold medalist Bohumil Nemecek, Czechoslovakia, and also at the European Championships in 1971, he already retired from the quarter-finals.

At the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972 Kottysch fought for the first West German boxer after the Second World War, the gold medal in the light middleweight. He won the final against Wieslaw Rudkowski according balanced fight just by points ( 3-2 judges' votes ).

Dieter Kottysch lives in Buchholz in der Heide Nord.
