History
Dottenheim was after the end of the Thirty Years' War, a sanctuary for many Protestant faith displaced persons from Austria, which significantly contributed to the reconstruction here.
Incorporations
On January 1, 1970 parts of the disbanded community Oberroßbach were incorporated. On January 1, 1972, added Beersbach. Altheim, Dottenheim and Walddachsbach, who came from the defunct district Uffenheim, were added on July 1, 1972.
