Dietmar Bartsch
Dietmar Gerhard Bartsch ( born March 31, 1958 in Stralsund ) is a German politician (The Left ).
Life and career
After graduation with honors in 1976 at the EOS Franzburg Bartsch made initially from 1976 to 1978 his national service with a paratrooper battalion in the National People's Army now and then graduated in 1978 a degree in economics from the University of Economics in Berlin -Karl Horst, which he in 1983 as graduate economist finished. Political career
Bartsch in 1977 became a member of the SED. In 1989 he was one of the founders of the Association Young comrades ( AGJG ) at the Extraordinary Congress of the SED - PDS. From 1991 to 1997 Bartsch was Federal Treasurer of the PDS and was subsequently elected as the National Secretary.
For the 2002 elections he was campaign manager of the PDS and together with Gabi Zimmer, Petra Pau and Roland Claus one of the four top candidates at the federal level. When the PDS then failed at the five - percent hurdle and moved with only two directly elected to the Bundestag, demanded his inner-party opponents of his resignation as national manager. He then failed on the Gera Party Congress in October 2002 with his planned candidacy for federal party, which he withdrew after Gabi Zimmer was previously confirmed as party chairman. He was succeeded by Uwe Hiksch.

In October 2005 he was again nominated by party chairman Lothar Bisky as national director and elected in December 2005 by the national party again in this office. Since June 2007, he was National Secretary of the party Die Linke.
January 2010 was accused Dietmar Bartsch by Gregor Gysi, among other things, to have harmed through specific statements to the mirror the party chairman Oskar Lafontaine. Bartsch is part of the party wing of the so-called reformers.
Member of Parliament
Bartsch from 1998 to 2002 and again since 2005 Member of the German Bundestag. He is always drawn on a state list of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the Bundestag.
In January 2012 it was announced that Dietmar Bartsch as one of 27 members of parliament of the Left under observation is by the Federal Office for Protection of the Constitution, which was criticized by politicians from all political groups.
