Dietmar Saupe

Dietmar Saupe (born 1954 in Bremen ) is a German computer scientist and professor at the University of Konstanz. Saupe researching dynamic systems, computer graphics and experimental mathematics. Saupes research in the field of computer graphics examines, among other things, the digital image processing in medical application. Special recognition was given Saupe as a researcher at the fractals and as an author of many books in this field. His book, Chaos and Fractals received by the American Publisher's Association the price of the best math book in 1992.

Saupe studied from 1973 to 1979 at the Universities of Stuttgart and Bremen mathematics and was subsequently Research Assistant in Dynamical Systems at the University of Bremen, where he graduated in 1982. His doctor father was Heinz- Otto Peitgen. After a research period from 1985 to 1987 at the University of California at Santa Cruz, he was an assistant professor until 1993 in Bremen, where he habilitated in port. From 1993 to 1998 he was Professor of Computer Science at the Albert -Ludwigs- Universität Freiburg, 1998-2002 at the University of Leipzig. Since 2002 he has held the same job for the University of Konstanz.
