Digerati

The Digerati are the elite of the computer industry and online communities. The word is a ( English ) composite of "digital" and " literati ", and therefore called (in a sense ) the "digital well- well-read " or " digital elite". The word is similar to that derived also from the net jargon glitterati, glitter literati. Digerati Famous personalities are almost all technicians, writers, journalists or academics. One of the most well-known digerati is Bill Gates.

The word is used in different ways, and can recognize these meanings:

  • Opinion leaders, whose lyrics emphasize a visionary digital technology,
  • People who work as celebrities in Silicon Valley, and which are also, and just become known during the dot - com boom time
  • Those who are influential in the digital world and exert influence

The first mention of the word and embossing was done in 1992 on USENET, and referred to an article by George Gilder in Upside magazine. Other sources claim the term was invented by the New York Times and its editor Tim Race.
