digital data

Digital data is information discretely represented in information theory and technique. In this form, the data can be read or processed better or even exclusively by computers or other devices for digital signal processing.

To obtain digital data, they must first be digitized. They can then be efficiently transmitted and fault-tolerant (e.g., by checksum ), and stored.

Colloquially we mean by digital data often digital documents, pictures and videos. Rare and erroneously also metadata that arise in the use of computers or the Internet and can provide information about the person.
