The Digul ( indon. sungai Digul, formerly Dutch. Digoel ) in the Indonesian province of Papua is a 525 kilometers is one of the longest rivers in Western New Guinea. It rises to over 3000 m altitude in the Jayawijaya Mountains, the eastern foothills of the maoke Mountains. It flows in a southwesterly direction mostly by swampy lowlands and flows into a delta of north - Yos Sudarso Island in the Arafura Sea.

In Digul 1982 more than 30 species of fish have been found. About the rest of the fauna of the pristine area is virtually nothing is known.
