Dimbokro

Region

Dimbokro is a city in the center of the Ivory Coast and the capital of the administrative region N'zi - Comoé. It is located 200 km north of the provincial capital Abidjan and 95 km southeast of the administrative capital Yamoussoukro and belongs to the region of the Baule.

The population was estimated in 2010 to over 60,000.

History

On 30 January 1950, came in response to a nationwide consumer boycott of imported goods and for the defense of the prices for African producers of coffee and cocoa and to several demonstrations that the release of many leaders of the Parti Démocratique de Côte d' Ivoire ( PDCI ) demanded that bloody reactions of the colonial administration. In Dimbokro there were 14 dead and 50 wounded. The local commander was shooting into the crowd that had demonstrated in front of his residence.

In Dimbokro the winner of the 2010 presidential election Alassane Ouattara was born in 1942.
