Dimitrie Sturdza

Dimitrie Alexandru Sturdza ( born March 10, 1833 in Miclǎuşeni, † October 21, 1914 in Bucharest ), full name Dimitrie Alexandru Sturdza - Miclăuşanu, was a liberal politician in Romania and in the period from 1895 to 1909 four times Prime Minister.

Life

Dimitrie Alexandru Sturdza came from the old Romanian family Sturdza ( Sturza ), whose origin can be traced back to around 1540. The family was long and intimate with the governments of Moldova and later joined by Romania. Among the most important members of the family since 1822 included some princes of Moldavia and General Grigore Sturdza.

Sturdza was born on March 10, 1833 in Miclǎuşeni and educated at the Academia Mihăileană in Iasi. Later he became the private secretary of Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza. Dimitrie Alexandru Sturdza was 1882-1884 President of the Romanian Academy. The politicians of the Liberal Partidul Naţional was then in the years 1895-1896, 1897-1899, 1901-1906 and 1907-1909 Romanian Prime Minister. He died in 1914 in Bucharest.
