Dimitrij Kotschnew

Dimitrij Kotschnew (Russian Дмитрий Александрович Кочнев / Dmitri Alexandrovich Kotschnew; born July 15, 1981 in Karaganda, Kazakh SSR, USSR ) is a German - Russian professional ice hockey goaltender who plays for the Hamburg Freezers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga since 2012.

Career

Dimitrij Kotschnew began at the age of seven years with ice hockey game at Awtomobilist Karaganda in his native Kazakhstan. Two years later his family moved to Germany, his mother German origin.

In 2001, the son of a baker from the Hamburg Crocodiles to the Iserlohn Roosters in the DEL, where his professional career began. Even in his first season, he became for a time the number one Sauerland. In the season 2002/ 03 he had against Jimmy Waite but no chance on many missions, so that he often played by the mining license EHC Straubing. 2003/ 04 he moved to back with the Roosters, mostly with Mike Fountain between the posts from. In the 2007 /08 season Kotschnew had a contract with the Sinupret Ice Tigers. At the end of the main round, he was the statistically best goalkeeper in the league. In the Ice Hockey World Championship 2008, he was only third-choice goalkeeper behind Robert Mueller and Dimitri Paetzold. Kotschnew came to a bet against Canada, in which he, however, was replaced after the first third by Müller.

For the 2008/09 season he signed a contract for two years at HK Spartak Moscow of the newly formed Continental Hockey League. Since he only has a German and a Russian passport, it does not count for foreigners quota in the KHL. After Kotschnew had completed almost the entire preparation of the 2008/09 season as a regular goalie, he was injured shortly before the first season game, so he did not come until early December to his debut in the KHL. Then he showed outstanding performance and led his team to the play- offs, where they made ​​it to the quarter-finals.

The 2010/11 season he spent with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, before moving to Atlant Mytischtschi 2011. From there he moved in summer 2012 to the Hamburg Freezers.
