Dingač

Dingač is a Croatian red wine. He is pressed on the south coast of the Peljesac peninsula from what is read very late, already rosiniertem part of the autochthonous grapes southern Dalmatian Plavac Mali grape in the same place in Potomje and several other communities.

The Dingač is an intensive search for soft fruit and cherry scented, very dark, almost black purple red wine with substantial alcohol levels of 14 percent by volume, and more. A Dingač obtained his drinking time with about 5 years and is at least 10 years very good shelf life. He is always a tannic, massive wine, too young but often somewhat rough and uneven. The Dingač was the first time still Yugoslav quality wine, which received in 1961 the protected designation of origin and the predicate Kakovostno Vino ( outstanding wine ). Today is one of Dingač the best known and best red wines of Croatia (→ Viticulture in Croatia). In the inter-regional trade are mainly products of the cooperative winery in Potomje, in which also the similar but usually more elegant Postup is made. Both are always appealing, remarkable in good vintages wines, but do not count on the best products from the Plavac Mali. In recent years, some local winemakers have adapted their production methods modern standards. The investment and participation of French companies and the return of some that have become successful overseas Croatian winemakers have a positive effect on the quality of the development Dingač.
