Dingbat

As embellishments (or ornaments ) are referred to in the printing industry all movable type, which carry no characters, but ornaments. They are used for book decoration.

For typical ornamentation includes Fleurons, end caps, end pieces, scrolls, trophies, vignettes, lunettes, calligraphic and heraldic symbols, cupids and wreaths.

Today Ornamental rate are collected as a graphic character set in decorative fonts, such as Hermann Zapf font ITC Zapf Dingbats or Wingdings and Webdings as IT font. As Unicode characters to glyphs ornaments found in the Unicode block Dingbats (U 2700-27 BF).
