The thing poem is a poem type, which is pronounced in the second half of the 19th century. In a poem thing an object or living being is distancing or objectifying recorded and described. The poem has the ambition to express the thing as if it were speaking about themselves, it is intended to express the interior and the nature of the object. Often the thing poem treated subjects from the visual arts, which are designed in strict linguistic form. The term " poem thing " was coined in 1926 by German scholars Kurt Oppert.

In the poem the lyrical thing I usually occurs in the background while attempting at the same time, one thing that often symbolically to express.
