Dino Staffa

Dino Cardinal Staffa ( born August 14, 1906 in Santa Maria in Fabriago, Italy, † August 7, 1977 in Rome ) was a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

After leaving school in Imola studied Dino Staffa Catholic theology and philosophy at the Pontifical Regional Seminary " Benedict XV. " In Bologna at the Theological Faculty of Bologna, where Dr. theol it. received his doctorate, and at the Pontifical Athenaeum " Apollinare " where Dr. iur it. utr. doctorate. On May 25, 1929, he received by Bishop Paolino Giovanni Tribbioli OFM Cap the sacrament of Holy Orders, and then worked for two years as a pastor in the Diocese of Imola before he was released for the purpose of further studies from 1931 to 1933. In the years 1933 to 1950 he was chaplain in Rome and Professor of the History of Canon Law at the Pontifical Lateran University. From 1944 he was also auditor of the Roman Rota. 1958 gave him Pope John XXIII. the Office of Secretary of the Curia with special responsibility for the seminaries and universities.

On 3 September 1960, Dino Staffa of John XXIII. appointed Titular Bishop of Caesarea in Palestine; He received his episcopal consecration of the Pope on October 28, 1960 itself

He participated in the years 1962-1965 at the Second Vatican Council and received in 1967 the appointment as Pro- Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura. In June 1967, Pope Paul VI took him. as cardinal priest with the titular church of Sacro Cuore di Cristo Re in the College of Cardinals, and appointed him Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura. On 24 May 1976 he was cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva

Dino Staffa died on August 7, 1977 in Rome and was buried in the crypt of his family in Massa Lombarda at Imola.
