Diogenes of Tarsus

Diogenes of Tarsus was a Greek philosopher Epicurean.

He lived most probably in the second half of the 2nd century BC and came from the Asia Minor city of Tarsus. After a message from the ancient geographer Strabo, he dealt with the rest of philosophy with poetic improvisations.

From his writings one Diogenes Laertius on the following titles:

  • Greek Ἐπίλεκτοι σχολαί ( " Selected studies / lectures" ) in at least 20 books
  • Greek Ἐπιτομὴ τῶν Ἐπικούρου ἠθικῶν δογμάτων ( " Demolition of the ethical doctrines of Epicurus " ) in at least 12 books
  • Greek ποιητικὰ ζητήματα ( " questions of poetry" )
