An Inclination ( to Latin inclinatio inclination ) is a formerly in use instrument for measuring the inclination ( tilt of the field lines of the earth's magnetic field to the horizontal ).

One of a horizontal axis movable suspended magnetic needle shows the profile of the magnetic field lines. On a scale of degrees inclination angle can be read. The Inclination is the precursor of the magnetic field scales in use today.
