Diplodos

Diplodo is an animated series about talking dinosaurs from another dimension who have come from their planet Diplodorianrex to the earth to both planets to save the villains of the Santos Zaudarians. The series was produced from 1987 to 1988 in France and first aired in Germany from 1988 to 1990 on Saturdays in the morning program for children on RTL. The last time the series was shown on Fox Kids in 2003.

Action

The peaceful Diplodos live on their home planet Diplodorianrex, the counterpart of our planet in a parallel universe. For many years, sits an evil wizard who once ruled the universe, caught on Diplodorianrex. By this telepathy magician can give the leader Santos and his followers the Zaudarians commands to help him to escape from his prison. Since Diplodorianrex is protected by a powerful shield against enemies, Santos tried to bring our world under his control, which would also affect Diplodorianrex and so rid the evil wizard.

Since the Diplodos learn of this plan, a brave team of 5 Diplodos is sent to earth with a spaceship in the shape of a dinosaur to prevent Santos and the Zaudarian from gaining power over the earth. Arrived on Earth to learn the Diplodos the two school children, Peter and Jane know that support Diplodos in their struggle.

All Diplodos have a very rotund monochromatic exterior and a black mask- like face.

  • Bubbles

Bubbles is the leader of the team and pilot the spaceship, which can generate large stable bubbles with his mouth in order to include objects or enemies to put out of action.

  • Forklifts

Truck is a smaller blue Diplodo that can stitch together like a stapler with its long teeth things.

  • Stickum

Stickum is the co-pilot of the spaceship, which can produce adhesive tape in his mouth eg in order to bring opponents to case or closing holes. Through his eternal hunger, he is also the thickest member of the troupe.

  • Scissors

Scissors is a yellow pterodactyl who can use his beak like a pair of scissors for example, to cut things or to free the group. He is the thinker in the group and always knows some advice at the right time.

  • Puncher

Puncher is the smallest Diplodo in the team and has a blue color. With his teeth he can be like a hole punch to punch a lot of materials.

  • Peter and Jane

Peter and Jane are two school children who have befriended the Diplodorians at their first arrival on Earth and to support them in the fight. Peter is a timid and cautious boy, in contrast to Jane, who has no fear and adventure like.

  • Santos

The evil leader of the Zaudarian. Want to free the imprisoned sorcerer on Diplodorianrex by conquering the Earth. He always wears a battle suit of metal and a red cape on the front attached to the chest of a yellow round disk that is labeled with a big " Z".

  • Zaudarian

The fighters and agents of Santos. Have a green skin color and are not particularly blessed with intelligence.

Publication

The series was broadcast on French channel France 3 from 14 March 1988. The German premiere was followed from 1988 to 1990 by RTL Plus. Later followed reps on RTL 2, tv.nrw and Fox Kids. The series was also translated into Polish and Japanese, among others.
