Diplomatic Security Service

The Diplomatic Security Service (DSS; German Diplomatic Security Service ) is a federal agency established in 1916 and the U.S. State Department (U.S. Department of State ), with 1,500 employees. The DSS reports to the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS). Authorities director since July 7, 2008 Ambassador Eric J. Boswell ( Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security - Director of the Bureau 's Office of Foreign Missions ). The DSS has 195 branch offices abroad. History

The Authority was established in 1916 as the Bureau of Secret Intelligence. In 1945, she was renamed the Office of Security (SY). In 1985 she was again renamed Bureau of Diplomatic Security / Diplomatic Security Service.

Tasks

The DSS has the task of protecting citizens, diplomats and buildings of the United States around the world from terrorism. In almost all countries of the world, there are security officers of the service. Within the DSS, there is a special tactical unit called the Mobile Security Division (MSD ).

Through the Rewards for Justice Program ( to German: rewards for hints in the service of justice ) of the DSS is the U.S. Department of State rewards for information on the whereabouts of several sought- terrorists from all over the world and also pays rewards for information which terrorist attacks against Americans or prevent American institutions, as well as information that will allow the condemnation of the terrorists.
