The term Direct Downloads (DDL) features links for direct download ( download) files (as opposed to file sharing ) and is often used on warez sites.

Enforced here have been mostly ad-supported Sharehoster like Rapidshare, which put on their servers free space available. There files are provided by different, often anonymous users. Some successful hosters manage to finance themselves by not advertising, but solely by revenue from so-called premium accounts.

The download can be done via simple HTTP or FTP server. Frequently download manager like jDownloader or CryptLoad be used to compensate for the restricted by Sharehoster comfort.
