Dirk Hartog Iceland is an island in the area of ​​Shark Bay on the west coast of Australia.

The island is about 80 kilometers long and 3-15 kilometers wide. It is the longest and westernmost island of Western Australia, about 850 kilometers north of Perth in the State of Western Australia.

The Dutch explorer Dirk Hartog entered on October 25, 1616 for the first time Australian soil. He was thus the second Europeans in Australia.

Dirk Hartog Iceland is located in Shark Bay and is due to optimal ecological conditions, since 1991 a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the area around the island is the largest seaweed deposits in the world, which is why frolicking dolphins, sharks, manatees and other marine life in the bay.
