Dirk Helmig

Dirk Helmig ( May 3, 1965), nicknamed coups, is a former German football player and current football coach.

Career

He played to his time as an attacking midfielder mainly for Rot-Weiss Essen ( 1983-1991 and 1994-1999 ), where he scored 86 goals in 340 games. In the intervening years he was active for VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga, he also was with VfL in the 1993/94 season champion of the second division. In the summer of 1999 he moved Dirk Helmig of Rot-Weiss Essen for North Rhine- Oberliga side 1 FC Bocholt.

The following year, he also began his coaching career here, but was dismissed in December 2000. In January 2007 he took over as coach at SG Wattenscheid 09 in the Oberliga Westfalen. This season the rose " 09er " in the fifth division from. Only one season later ( 2007/ 08), however, the SG Wattenscheid 09 succeeded under the leadership of Helmig the rise in the newly established NRW-Liga. On 17 April 2009 he was released and took over for the 2009/10 season as coach at Schwarz -Weiss Essen. In May 2010, he won with the ETB the Niederrhein Cup ( 2-1 at Rot-Weiss Essen ) and qualified with the club as for the first round of the DFB Cup.

He played a total of 31 league games (5 goals) and 195 second-division games ( 40 goals).

Helmig operates together with the ex- professional footballer Jürgen Margref a football school in Duisburg.
