Disco ball

As a mirror ball ( also disco ball ) is called an existing in almost every nightclub, with small mirrors disguised ( pasted ) foam plastic ball. The lighting effect of numerous small, slow-moving points of light, reminiscent of a starry sky, derives it from the reflection of the headlights on the rotating sphere.

Mirror balls are made of a plastic ball, are glued to the outside small glass or metal mirrors. They are usually mounted hanging out of the reach of disco visitors. An electric motor rotates the ball slowly, with about one to three revolutions per minute.

Rarely mirror balls are also used as part of other light installations.

Mirror balls were already installed in the Berlin of the twenties in dance palaces. Careful observers can already in such films as " Berlin: Symphony of a Great City " (1927 ), " The Blue Angel" (1929 /30), "Water for Canitoga " ( 1939 in a Wild West saloon of 1905 ), in (1942 ) and " Great Freedom No. 7" ( 1943) discover "Casablanca".
