Disco (TV series)

Disco was a music broadcast by ZDF, which was produced from 1971 to 1982 and hosted by Ilja Richter. The presentation was made in each year with appropriate additional years - for example, " DISCO '77 ".

Prehistory

The immediate predecessor of disco was the music program 4-3-2-1 Hot & Sweet, which was produced from 1966 to the end of 1970 and presented in 1969 by Ilja Richter and Suzanne Doucet. After the end of 4-3-2-1 Hot & Sweet was the seamless transition to disco, which began in early 1971.

Components of the program

Similarly as in the ZDF hit parade presentation in the studio was quite close to the audience, with the performers mingled before the start or after the end of their songs partly under the spectators. The autograph addresses of the performers were displayed at the end of each performance.

Gained cult status Ilja Richter's welcome after the first appearance. In his " A wonderful good evening, ladies and gentlemen, Hello Friends! " Answered the audience loudly " Hello Ilya ". From this cherished ceremony but he distanced himself then at the beginning of the last transmission for 1982 musically in a song sketch.

The disco offered a very wide range of musical styles - for example, pop, disco, pop, rock, comedy and NDW songs. But Ilja Richter had no effect on the guest list and songs. ZDF saw in the skits a means to improve the acceptance of the shipment at the senior citizens and at the same time still secretly mitzugeben youth a little school knowledge, as it and not infrequently to culture ( world literature, operas, composers, writers, ...) history ( Roman Empire, Greek gods, German heroic legends, ...) went into the appropriate scenery and costumes, or at least there was sufficient allusions or parodies it.

There was in each show also the DISCO QUIZ, in which in a section from a previous disco ( or at the beginning or 4-3-2-1 Hot & Sweet) one (s) should be recognized artist ( in ) or group ("! Please no letters " ) and in which the audience through postcard mission could in addition to numerous signed records of performers on the broadcast win the following 3 main prizes: a portable radio (3rd prize ), a turntable ( 2nd prize) or an invitation for next issue (1st prize ), in which the winner also got a gift personally handed by the moderator. To present this winner the studio lighting was turned off completely and only a single white light - spot - directed at him, so that only the winner was to be seen in the bright spotlight. Then came to this action later each Ilja Richter's legendary fitting motto: "Light off - Womm! Spot on - Yeah ". The same award was also the hallmark of the Dutch show host Mies Bouwman, which thus initiated the final round of their show Eén van de eight ( 1970-1973 ).
