Moroccan Disc- ( Discoglossus scovazzi )

The Moroccan Disc- ( Discoglossus scovazzi ) is an amphibian of the genus authentics Disc- which is located exclusively in Morocco.

Distribution and habitat

The Moroccan Disc- lives on the North African Mediterranean coast and is in its distribution area on the Moroccan territory and the two Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla limited. Maybe there are more occurrences in western Algeria, but they are not confirmed.

In the Atlas Mountains, the habitat of the animals reached heights of up to 2600 meters. Like its relatives is also the Moroccan Disc- strongly bound to water and therefore lives in the range of flowing and smaller standing waters, which may be partly brackish. The terrestrial habitats include oak forests, oleander bushes and ruins, with the individuals often hide under rocks.

System

The Moroccan Disc- is classified as a species within the authentics Disc- ( Discoglossus ). He was treated to 2004 as a subspecies of Painted Scheibenzünglers (D. pictus).

Endangering

The Moroccan Disc- is on the Red List of Threatened Species IUCN as " not at risk " ( " least concern " ) classified because it has a relatively large circulation area, a large tolerance to habitat changes has as well as a relatively large total population is assumed.
