Disconto-Gesellschaft

The Disconto company - really Direction Disconto Society - was one of Germany's largest banking companies. It was founded in 1851 and merged in 1929 with the German Bank AG. My seat was in Berlin.

History

The Disconto Society was founded according to the plans of the banker David Hansemannplatz as a cooperative with 236 members, which together brought in 541 600 Taler ( = 1.6 million dollars) and participated in the October 15, 1851 their business operations. Originally, the maximum amount of a share should be at 10,000 thalers ( = 30,000 marks ). This maximum was, however, until 1855 to 60,000 thalers ( = 180,000 dollars) increased, so that the Disconto company was converted into a partnership limited by shares under the amended shareholder structure in 1856. As of 1859, the Disconto society also participated in the issuance of the Prussian government bonds. It was after 1866 decades the most powerful bank in Prussia consortium, which housed the Prussian and German government bonds on the market.

Adolph von Hanse man, a son of David Hansemannplatz took over after his death in 1864, the management and the bank introduced very successfully until his death in 1903.

By 1895, the Disconto Society worked exclusively in Berlin. In 1895, the North German bank was converted into a subsidiary in Hamburg Disconto Society. The shareholders of Norddeutsche Bank received 40% of the shares of Disconto company whose share capital was increased by this merger to 115 million marks. In the following years the company grew Disconto through acquisitions of other banking houses one of the largest German banks zoom.

In 1929, the German bank that Disconto Society, the Rheinische Credit Bank and A. Schaaffhausen'sche Bank Corporation to Deutsche Bank and Disconto Society ( DeDi Bank) joined forces, calling themselves after 1937 only German bank.
