Dishwashing liquid

Dishwashing liquid (short- GSM), in Switzerland dishwashing detergent, cleaning agents for washing dishes. They are divided into manual dishwashing detergent and dishwashing detergent. Hand dishwashing detergents are liquid products (from 1958), which are adjusted with citric acid because of the daily skin contact on an almost neutral or slightly acidic pH. The main components are surfactants ( 10-25 %, 25-40 % in concentrates ) whose job it is to replace leftovers from dishes, so that a dispersion or emulsion. Here, both anionic surfactants and cationic surfactants and amphoteric surfactants. Alcohols may be added as a solvent. They also often contain refatting agents, to recover the lipid film of the skin barrier. For additional skin care Aloe vera or protein hydrolysates may be included. Since the products have a high amount of water, salts of benzoic acid and salicylic acid may be added as anti -bacterial agents.

Detergents for dishwashers (from 1962) but are also available in liquid form as powders or tablets. Powdered cleaners contain, among other silicates, soda and surfactants ( other ingredients qv). Rinse aid used after the cleaning process as a drying aid. In addition, the built- in dishwashers require water softening regeneration.
