Disillusion (band)

Disillusion is a German metal band from Leipzig. The band created their own experimental style of Black, Death, Progressive, Alternative and Thrash Metal.

Band History

The band was founded by five students in 1994. The band's style was moving at that time still clearly in the thrash metal field. In July of the same year, the first almost forty -minute demo tape was recorded. In early 1996 Mark left the band aspen grove. The band then took in March of the same year the first recorded in the studio demo " Subspace Insanity". With this material it earned at least a name in the local scene, but neither to regional prominence even to a record deal was enough then.

In 1997, the second demo "Red " was recorded. With the increasing success in the area and not completely unrealistic perspective to operate the band seriously, the enthusiasm fell for the former school band, and so it was decided in 1998 to put the band on ice. Even at the end of the same year Alexander decided Motz and vurtox to continue the band. It was written more songs, and we looked around for new colleagues. In October of 1999, then came Rajk Barthel as a guitarist for the band, however, soon followed by the re- phasing of Alexander. By 2000, they found no third man and put the band on ice again, but finally got vurtox Jens Maluschka as a drummer in the band. Furthermore, Jörg Heinze came as second guitarist in the band. The newfound guitarist, however, already adopted after two written songs again.

The band played several concerts again and took in the summer of 2001, the third demo "Three Neuron Kings " on. With this the band then earned laurels for the first time by the trade press. The band themselves described this output style as " melodic death metal in the tension between, Anathema ',' Opeth ',' Soilwork 'and' Emperor '. " In the spring of 2002 the band went along with two other local bands for the first time on tour in Germany. As part of the "Legacy Band Contest", the band recorded the single " The Porter" on which the two songs "The Porter - A Lament " and included "Eternal Duality".

After this single ( their songs on the following album both are not included) they released the highly acclaimed first album "Back to Times of Splendor " (2004). Stylistically now one moves but in different climes than with the first demos. The music is largely free from death and black metal influences, the thrash metal elements are not completely vanished.

The sophomore from "Back to Times of Splendor ", titled "Gloria" was released on 20 October 2006. With the album Disillusion forging new musical territory and are increasingly resorting back to electronically distorted vocals. The new album thus shows a marked change in style compared to its predecessor, which was included controversial from the previous fan base.

In early 2007 drummer Jens Maluschka left for personal reasons and was replaced by Alex Disillusion Tscholakov. In July 2008 Jens returns to the band. The session bassist Alla Fedynitch is replaced in 2008 by Matthias Becker. On December 8, 2009 Andy Schmidt announced that separates from guitarist Rajk Barthel.

In an interview with the Leipziger Internet Zeitung of March 21, 2010 gave the band known already to work on a new album. In the Theater-Fabrik, Leipzig had the band 3 April 2010 her first live performance in two years in Germany. Here they confirmed that in the autumn the new album should appear, but this was delayed. The work on the new album in 2011 was interrupted several times for some concerts. Since then, the status of the new album is uncertain.
