Disposable Soft Synth Interface
DSSI ( Disposable Soft Synth acronym for Interface, pronounced like dizzy ) is a free plug- in interface for virtual instruments under Linux. DSSI plugins usually receive MIDI data, and generate audio signals. Common applications include software synthesizers and samplers. To apply and activating the plugin a DSSI -compatible host program such as Rose Garden or jack- dssi is required. DSSI is closely related to the LADSPA interface.
DSSI is the free equivalent to the proprietary interface VST from Steinberg. Meanwhile, it is possible, along with dssi - vst and wine to use many VST instruments for Microsoft Windows and Linux.
DSSI may be outdated and is replaced by LV2.
