Diss track

The youth linguistic verb diss (of English disrespect, discriminate or discredit derived verb to diss, . Abbreviation of discredit or discriminate against ) means someone decry, someone turn on an angle, disrespect or insult someone. Since 2000, the word in the dictionary is listed.

Originally a slang term from the U.S., it came over the hip- hop scene - in which the Dissen, has developed into its own genre, the Battle rap. Some rappers express their (supposedly) from a bad relationship especially to other rappers by so-called Diss tracks. In German-speaking Dissen the strong won in the early 2000s in popularity. Also commercially successful rappers such as Bushido, Sido Fler or fought among themselves long-standing feuds that were fired by explicit insults and threats. Observers see the shifting alliances and enmities as a marketing tool.
