Distribution Media Format

Distribution Media Format (DMF ) is a standard format for IBM PC diskettes. The format that is used for 3.5 " floppy disks, mainly differs from the standard format in that instead of 18 sectors per track, 21 sectors are used, making 16.6% more data, a total of 1.68 MB stored on a floppy disk can. since very few programs can create DMF disks, the format also serves as copy protection.
