The City District 2 is one of ten districts of the North Rhine - Westphalian capital Dusseldorf. It comprises the districts of Flingern- North, South and Flingern Duesseltal. The shape of districts to organize the city of Dusseldorf was introduced in 1975. The county seat is located at the Graf Allee.
Unlike other North Rhine-Westphalian cities such as Cologne or Duisburg the city districts have in Dusseldorf do not have proper names, but are merely indicated by a digit.
The districts themselves have a long tradition and history, however, were incorporated to Dusseldorf, to give the ever-growing urban space development. Duesseltal is more influenced by the upscale population and Flingern is in transition from the former working class district towards the affordable housing and work for creatives and families.
In the borough of 2, there is also the home of two major sports clubs in the city. So you can in Flingern on Flinger Broich visit the club grounds from Fortuna Dusseldorf and at the Zoological Garden in Duesseltal the ice rink at the Brehmstraße, formerly played in the Düsseldorf EC.
In the last local elections of 2009, to -participative in the voting population of the municipality chose to 38.8 % CDU, SPD to 21.6% to 18.9%, Greens, FDP to 10.2% to 5.6% LEFT and 3.9 % was attributable to the other parties.
