Distroff

Distroff ( German This village, Lorraine Dischdrëf & Dischtrof ) is a commune in the Moselle department in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Thionville -Est and Canton Metzervisse. The town has 1616 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).

Geography

Distroff located about nine kilometers south-east of Thionville, in the valley of the river Bibiche, at an altitude 163-257 m above sea level. The municipality covers 7.93 km ².

History

The town was first mentioned in 936 as villa Theodorica, 1224 then as Thies village. Since 1659 Distroff belongs to France. Before, it was as a fief to Luxembourg.

From 1811 to 1902 the neighboring Kuntzig was incorporated.
