Diyari people

The Dieri are a tribe of Aborigines and they also make their own linguistic community. The tribe lives in the desert area of South Australia, including the Simpson Desert, Strzeleckiwüste and Tirariwüste. They live along the Cooper River to the eastern Lake Eyre.

Land rights

The Dieri since 1997 have a right to possession of 87 733 square kilometers of land, which is enshrined in a Gesetzakt, in Dieri Native Title Claim. The area, which have the Dieri, extends from east of Lake Eyre on the north to Muloorina to the Warburton River and to the east of Killalapaninna out. It includes the landmarks Cooper Creek and Leigh Creek, Lake Howitt, Lake Hope, Lake Gregory and Clayton River.

Alternative name for the Dieri are: Diari, Diyeri, Dieyerie, Deerie, Dayerrie, Dthee - eri Kunari at Cooper Creek, Koonarie, Wongkadieri at Arabana, Tiari ( at the southern Arrernte ) Urrominna, Kujani, Tirari and Diyari.
