DJ Shadow

DJ Shadow (born Josh Davis, born January 1, 1973 in Hayward, California) is an American hip hop DJ, vinyl collector and music producer.

Career

DJ Shadow is a pioneer of turntablism and is considered an important figure in the development of experimental hip-hop, which is commonly associated with the London label Mo ' Wax by James Lavelle. For this he was instrumental in having his single In / Flux and made ​​in collaboration with DJ Krush Duality piece.

His first album Endtroducing ..... 1996 is a milestone in the hip- hop scene and was the first album, which was compiled exclusively from samples. Until 1998, he worked with James Lavelle project UNKLE together with him and released the album Psyence Fiction ( Guest Performers: Thom Yorke, Beastie Boys, Richard Ashcroft ).

His older productions are made from 100 percent sample of all directions. Turntables and mixer are conceived as a tool and used. Much of his productions have been created on a single Akai MPC 60. Meanwhile, he is also, however, a synthesizer.

In 2006 he appeared in the opening act of Massive Attack.
