Djalminha

Djalminha, Djalma Feitosa Dias actually Maia ( born December 9, 1970 in Santos, Brazil ) is a former Brazilian footballer. He was Brazil's 1996 Player of the Year. In addition, he is because of his passion for tricky game as a wizard and therefore is nicknamed " El Mago ".

Djalminha is the son of Djalma Santos (double world champion with Brazil in 1958 and 1962) and has dual citizenship (Spain).

He began his career at Flamengo Rio de Janeiro and played among other things, the Guarani FC and SE Palmeiras. In between, he had a brief stint in Japan at Shimizu S-Pulse.

During the Copa América 1997 Djalminha was in the Brazilian squad and scored two goals. In the final, which Brazil won 3-1 against Bolivia, but was not used.

1997 Djalminha went to Spain for Deportivo La Coruña, where he acted as a playmaker in midfield. In the season 1999/2000 Djalminha got with the Galicians the Spanish league title. After he had his trainer Javier Irureta dealt a headbutt after a disagreement, he was rarely used and was therefore not considered by coach Luiz Felipe Scolari for Brazil's World Cup squad for the FIFA World Cup 2002 in Japan and South Korea.

During the 2002/ 03 season he was with FK Austria Wien in Austria under contract, but showed his qualities rarely prove.

After a brief stint in Mexico with Club América, he ended his active career in February 2005.

Djalminha was 14 times for the Brazilian national team in action, he succeeded in doing 6 goals.
