DKW F4 Master Class

The DKW F4 Master Class is a small car with front-wheel drive of the DKW brand, the Auto Union in 1934 brought 701 as the successor of the model F2 master class on the market. The difference to the model F2 was the somewhat rounder and more elegant body with rear-hinged " suicide doors ". The F4 was like all DKW "Front Car" ( name protected ) built at the Audi plant in Zwickau.

The technique was the same: the already used in the F2 and front transverse-mounted two-cylinder two -stroke engine ( parallel twin ) with 0.7 liters of displacement and Schnürle reverse flushing with two overflow channels makes 20 hp at 3500 min -1. Over a three-speed transmission with Krückstockschalthebel he drives the front wheels. The cart with a sub-frame of two steel U-shaped longitudinal girders as frame and leatherette -covered plywood body have front and rear independent suspension on transverse leaf springs and were two - and four -seater convertible and convertible sedan available.

After about 7,000 vehicles built the successor DKW F5 was presented with a stable central box frame and rear " floating axis" in February 1935.
