The low-slung chassis and the compact rear axle allowed many different versions: as a minibus, van, station wagon, flatbed, low-bed trailer, butcher's truck and even as a chassis cab for special bodies. The cargo area of the van took about 5 m³ ( 2230 × 1390 × 1575 mm) with an outside length of 4177 mm and a width of 1670 mm.

From 1954 to 1955, the " Type 30 " was built with 792- cc engine and 22 kW (30 hp). Under Quick Aster friends this engine is known as "Buffalo ".

From 1955 to 1962, the DKW Quick Aster was built as a type 3 with a three-cylinder engine with 896 cc and 23.5 kW ( 32 hp). This engine is also referred to as 3 = 6, what should testify: " three power pulses per crankshaft revolution, just like the six-cylinder four-stroke " ( advertising text of Auto Union ).

Exotic is the DKW - electric car, which was equipped with a 4.8 kW engine and could reach a maximum speed of 40 km / h. Was fed to the engine 80 V 210 Ah lead-acid batteries. This version was used for example by electric utilities for the regular exchange counter and on the East Frisian islands where vehicles with internal combustion engines were not allowed.

Production in Spain

The DKW Quick Aster was from 1954 also of the Spanish Industrias del Motor SA IMOSA produced in Vitoria. Here in the early 1960s developed a successor with a modern design of the cab-over- body, also with 3- cylinder two- stroke engine ( 981cm ³ capacity, 40 hp at 4200 rpm ) and front wheel drive. This was offered from 1963 to 1965 under the name DKW F1000L in Germany of the Auto Union. Since this is now part of the Volkswagen Group, was a van of this size - especially with no more a contemporary two-stroke engine - no longer needed for the German market, since this was the VW Transporter. The further to the Daimler -Benz group belonging IMOSA produced their vans on for the Iberian market. 1975 received the vehicle a Mercedes- Benz diesel engine. Hence the Mercedes -Benz MB 100 was developed later, which was offered from 1988 also in Germany.
