Dmitri Suur

Dimitri Suur (Russian: Дмитрий Суур / Dmitri Suur; born February 25, 1975 in Tallinn, Estonian SSR as Dimitri Rodin ) is a Russian- Estonian ice hockey player who is since 2012 in the Sheffield Steel Dogs in the English Premier Ice Hockey League contract.

Career

Dimitri Suur began his career as a hockey player in his Estonian homeland, where he was active for LNSK Narva and Tallinn JSK 1990-1993. Then the defender moved to the Russian Super League, in which he ran aground 1993-1995 Krylia Sovetov Moscow and for the Pārdaugava HK Riga. He then played for a year in the Canadian Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League for the North Battleford North Stars, before he stood from 1996 to 2000 in the North American professional leagues, International Hockey League, Colonial Hockey League, United Hockey League and American Hockey League on the ice. During this period, the Este played with a Russian passport mainly for the Flint Generals in the Colonial Hockey Leuage, and later in the United Hockey League and the UHL team of Winston -Salem IceHawks. With the Flint Generals, he won in the 1996/97 season the championship of the Colonial Hockey League.

In the summer of 2000 Suur joined the reigning Slovakian champions HC Slovan Bratislava, but he left after only one year already again to play the next four years for the HC Karlovy Vary in the Czech Extraliga. The 2005/06 season spent the right shooter again in the United Hockey League, in which he took for Adirondack Frostbite. After he started the following season in Estonia, the HK Stars, he played the next two years for the HK Nitra in the Slovak Extraliga. For the 2008/ 09 season, the national team has been committed from Miercurea Ciuc HC from Romania, with whom he won the championship title of the MOL League at first attempt. After the club but was disbanded for financial reasons, Tuur moved for a two-year contract with the Polish club Podhale Nowy Targ. With this he immediately won the Polish championship. For this success he contributed with 36 points scorer, of which ten goals in 55 games. He then left the club early and moved within the Playoff Final to KH Sanok. With Sanok he won the Polish Cup competition in season 2010/11.

For the 2011/12 season Suur was committed by the Hull Stingrays of the British Elite Ice Hockey League. Following the season he moved to the Sheffield Steel Dogs from the English Premier Ice Hockey League, but played next to continue for the Stingrays and occasionally also for the Telford Tigers.

During the summer break in 1996 Suur also ran for the Sacramento River Rats and San Jose Rhinos on in professional inline hockey league Roller Hockey International.

Internationally

For Estonia, Suur took part in the junior level at the U18 Junior C Championship in 1993 and the U20 Junior -C2- 1995 World Cup.

In the senior level, he stood in the squad of his country at the C2 - 1994 World Cup and at the World Championships Division II in 1995, 2009 and 2010 and 2012. Moreover, he argued for Estonia at the World Championships Division I 2011 and 2013, and at the Olympic qualifications for Games 2010 in Vancouver and 2014 in Sochi.
