Dmitri Nikolayevich Torgowanow (Russian: Дмитрий Николаевич Торгованов, scientific transliteration Dmitri Nikolaevich Torgovanov; born January 5, 1972 in Leningrad, USSR ) is a former Russian handball player who played for HSV Hamburg. His game position in the attack was at the circle. Late in his career, he was mainly used only in defense. His nickname is " Pino". He received - even to Wall Auer times - by Martin Schwalb and Mike Fuhrig because of his unconventional, reminiscent of the wooden puppet Pinocchio, the wooden range of motion.

Torgowanow was for many years a member of the Russian national handball team of men and has 219 caps for Russia denied, in which he scored 689 goals. With the Russian selection Torgowanow won an Olympic gold medal, a World Championship and two European Championships. In the Men's Handball World Championship 2007, he was again on the extended squad.

After his career Torgowanow took over as coach of the Russian first division GK Neva St. Petersburg.

He has a body length of 1.99 m and weighs 106 kg. Torgowanow is married and has one child. The right-handed was a professional handball pro.

Torgowanow came by chance for handball. In his hometown of St. Petersburg, there were three sports halls. In a basketball was operated in the second Handball and in the third track. "At first I played basketball. Then, this hall was renovated and so I went to the next ... ".
