DNB ASA

DNB is the largest financial services companies in Norway based in Oslo. It was founded on 4 December 2003 after a merger between DnB and Gjensidige NOR. The largest shareholder is the Nærings -og Handelsdepartementet the Norwegian state. Dnb NOR manages capital in 2011 at the height of Norwegian kroner over two trillion. Although the Group is headquartered in Oslo, important departments are located in Bergen.

DnB NOR is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange in the OBX index. The Group had at the market close of 12 May 2006 a market value of about 115.7 billion crowns. (~ 15 billion euros ). Thus, DnB NOR is one of the largest Norwegian financial groups.

In the company 13,365 employees (as of 2010) employs. DnB NOR has business locations throughout Norway. For companies in Norway owns the brands Vital, Nordland banks, Cresco and postal banks. The company has further offices in Helsinki, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Luxembourg, London, New York, Shanghai and Singapore as well as several locations in Sweden.

The DnB NORD bank from Copenhagen is a joint venture with NORD / LB ( 49 percent). It does business mainly in the Baltic region.

Company History

The company dates back to the year 1822, when the Christiania Sparebank was founded. The current group is a result of mergers between the Christiania Sparebank and Gjensidige (1847 ), the Bergen Private Bank ( 1855), the norske Credit Bank ( 1857), the skins Banks (1920), the Bergen Bank (1928 ), the postal banks, the Vital and Nordland banks. The current company name (company) comes from the year 2003, when the norske Bank and Gjensidige NOR merged.
