Dnipropetrovsk Raion

The Rajon Dnipropetrovsk (Ukrainian Дніпропетровський район; Russian Днепропетровский район / Dnepropetrowski raion ) is a administrative unit was founded in 1965 within the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in central Ukraine.

The Rajon has an area of 1430 km ² and a population of about 85,000 inhabitants ( November 2013 ). The population density is 59 inhabitants per km ².

The administrative headquarters of the Rajons is the city of Dnipropetrovsk, which itself is however not part of the Rajons. The Regional Council is in the SST Juwilejne. The largest town in the Rajons the city is 15 km north of Dnipropetrovsk lying Pidhorodne with about 19,000 inhabitants.

Geography

The Rajon located in the center of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and umschlieißt the city of Dnipropetrovsk. It is bordered on the northwest by the Rajon Petrykiwka, in the north for a short distance to the Rajon Mahdalyniwka and the Raion and city Nowomoskowsk. In the east it borders on the Rajon Synelnykowe the south by the Rajon Solon and to the west by Rajon Krynytschky and the city Dniprodserschynsk. The Dnieper River is the largest river in Rajon. Other rivers are the flow through the Raion of Oril, the Samara and the 138 km long Mokra Sura. Is the Ramsar site of the Dnepr - Oril wetlands at the mouth of Oril in the Dnepr.
