Do It Like a Dude is a song by British singer and rapper Jessie J. It was coupled on 18 November 2010 as the debut single from her debut album Who You Are. It reached number two in the UK and eleventh place in Ireland.
Background
Do It Like a Dude was written by Jessie J, Kyle Abraham, Peter Abrahams, George Astasio, Jason Pebworth and Jonathan Shave and produced by Parker & James and The Invisible Men. Jessie J had after the writing of the song, she wanted to record it for Rihanna, but Rihanna wanted Jessie J picks up the song as their " middle finger in the industry." Rihanna's Rude Boy inspired Jessie J for the song Do It Like a Dude to take it for Rihanna. Then Jessie sent the song of their record company Iceland Records before they sent it to Rihanna's management. Because of the content of the song Jessie J Do It Like a Dude did not want to publish it as a single, but in the end she was happy.
Commercial success
Do It Like a Dude debuted at number 25 on the UK Singles Chart on 28 November 2010. Having Jessie J BBC's Sound of 2011 won, Do It Like a Dude reached number five on January 9, 2011. Then the single reached for several weeks number two in the UK charts and was kept away from Bruno Mars Grenade from the top. To date, was sold by the single in the UK over 300,000 units.
In Ireland, the single reached number eleven.
