Doc Savage

Doc Savage, fully Clark "Doc" Savage Jr., is the hero of an American adventure novel series, which first appeared in 1933 under the title " The Man of Bronze ".

After the development of Henry W. Ralston and further processing by Lester Dent, he became a near- Superman in the fight against the evils of the world. Dent, who wrote most of the 190 novels, described his hero as a cross between Sherlock Holmes with his deductive abilities, Tarzan with his outstanding physical talents, Craig Kennedy with his scientific education, and Abraham Lincoln with his Christianity. Doc Savage is a physician, scientist, adventurer, inventor, researcher and musician - that is a real universal hero. And like Superman, he also takes place from time to time in his " Fortress of Solitude " in the Arctic back. His wealth he owes a gold mine in Central America, leaving his father, the natives, and which he inherited from him.

"Doc Savage " is one of the few pulp novel series that managed to be published in book form again, between 1960 and 1990 by Bantam Books. In Germany the first stories in the future Utopia novels were published from 1966 onwards under the house name Kenneth Robeson of Condé Nast Publications (which is therefore not a real writer, but a house pseudonym that was used by various authors). The first novel had only 59 pages: "Doc Savage and the Red Death ". Starting in 1972, then gave the Pabel publishing the novels out as paperbacks. They kept to the original texts of the original Bantam editions and brought it to a total of 89 issues.

Except as novel the stories of Doc Savage were also briefly implemented as radio plays in the 1940s. 1975 turned director Michael Joseph Anderson the movie " Doc Savage - The Man of Bronze " ( Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze) with ex- TV Tarzan Ron Ely in the lead role. It was the last production of the famous producer George Pal.
