Doddridge County, West Virginia

Doddridge County is a county located in the state of West Virginia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is West Union.

Geography

The County is located in north-central West Virginia and has an area of 830 square kilometers without significant water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Wetzel County, Harrison County, Lewis County, Gilmer County, Ritchie County and Tyler County.

History

Doddridge County was formed on February 4, 1845 from parts of Harrison, Lewis, Ritchie and Tyler County. It was named after Philip Doddridge, a London-born English Nonkonfirmisten the Anglican Church and later statesman from Virginia.
