Dodge C Series

The Dodge C- series was a line of pickups that from 1954 to 1960 offered the Dodge division of Chrysler. It replaced the B- series and was in turn replaced by the D- series in 1961.

The C- series was a complete redesign and was not based, like its predecessor, on the chassis of the pre-war trucks. Dodge continued the tradition of the cab away with large windows and panoramic windows (the latter introduced in 1955 ). The new PowerFlite automatic transmission with two gears this year was the great novelty for pickups.

1957 called the Dodge driven by Chrysler Hemi engines Pickups Power Giant, leading power steering and power brakes, and automatic transmission with 3 speed levels and an electrical system to 12 volts - a base.

The platform with flat sides ( which therefore was also wider), called Sweptline, came in 1959. Too, took it the usual type designation for pickups, which also Ford and GM used back then. Thus, the 0.5 -ton truck was now called D100. The Utiline version with twin tires (now known as " Dualie " ) has been introduced for vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 4,000 kg.

Since the C - series is still based on the old design of the cab, the name was also used for medium and heavy trucks by model year 1975 ( long after most light trucks had received the new name D series).
