Dodge Omni 024

1979 Plymouth Horizon TC3

The Dodge Omni 024 and the identical Plymouth Horizon TC3 were sports coupe based on the Dodge Omni. From 1981, the models were cited by only 024 Dodge or Plymouth TC3.

In the fall of 1978, the coupe versions of the Dodge Omni and Plymouth Horizon with the technique of sedans, but a totally independent body line with sloping snout, hatchback and integrated into the tailgate spoiler published. Your wheelbase was shortened from 252 to 245.6 cm, the outer length was 439 cm by 20 cm but bigger.

Available were the coupes, like the sedans, initially only with the 1.7 -liter Volkswagen and only in a layout version. However, this could be enhance by a sports package.

In model year 1980, the Dodge Omni 024 DeTomaso, to which there was no Plymouth - parallel model appeared. Despite the sporting associations awakening name, it was a pure styling package, including the DeTomaso driver had to be content with 66 hp. In Plymouth there was instead a new Turismo package that included alloy wheels, matt black paint and a sporty interior put up.

1981 DeTomaso was a new 2.2 -liter with 85 bhp as standard, which there was an additional cost in all other Dodge and Plymouth versions of the coupe. Like the sedans, as well as the coupe 1981/82 were offered in Miser version with spartan facilities and longer rear axle ratio.

The models were changed slightly as the Dodge Charger and Plymouth Turismo further built from model year 1983.

Until then, the Dodge Omni 024 was a total of about 170,000 copies (of which 1952 DeTomaso version and 14,400 Charger ) emerged and the Plymouth Horizon TC3 about 200,000 (of which about 8000 Turismo ).
